Plant-based industry experts representing Asia, the Middle East and India, join Kale United advisory board, strengthening global support network available for Kale United member companies

Stockholm, Sweden, 11 April, 2019: Plant-based company Kale United AB (Kale United) today announces the strengthening of its global advisory board with the addition of two new advisors representing the fast-growing Indian, Middle Eastern and South Korean markets, where interest and demand for plant-based products is increasing exponentially.

Kale United welcomes Marie Frenette and Chetan G Punjani to the advisory board as Asia advisor and Middle East and India advisor respectively.

Based in Seoul, South Korea, Marie is the founder of the HAE Sustainable Lifestyle Company, a consultant for plant-based food companies, and the Happy Cow ambassador for Seoul.

Based in Dubai, UAE, Chetan is General Manager GCC at Oceandusk Group and brings 15 years’ investment experience in stocks and fixed assets, as well as his passion for supporting the growth of a plant-based lifestyle.

Marie and Chetan will be vital in providing local knowledge and insight in the regions they know best, and helping Kale United member companies establish the right contacts to expand distribution and grow their businesses – a key element of the unique Kale United ecosystem.

Kale United Asia Advisor Marie Frenette said, “It is an honor to represent Asia on the Kale United advisory board along with so many other passionate, dedicated people. I love that Kale United gives both individuals and institutions an opportunity to come together and nurture the many plant-based companies emerging worldwide.

“There is a very obvious trend toward sustainable consumption and an increase in the number of Asian companies entering the space. Investors here are starting to take notice and seek out ways to get involved in this emerging industry, use their money for good and see their investments grow. It is a really exciting time and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

Kale United Middle East & India Advisor Chetan G Punjani said, “I am delighted to join Kale United in increasing the awareness and uptake of a plant-based lifestyle. By championing new brands that are entering the market in the Middle East and India, we can help them to build their contact network, and connect them with a community that is at the heart of increasing demand for living a vegan way of life.

Vegan awareness in the Middle East is mostly on social media and not in the public domain due to the legal structure of the region. In India, awareness is found in main cities but has not reached the rural population. In both regions, there is a growing demand for plant-based clothing, footwear and cosmetics as well as plant-based restaurants and food.”

Marie and Chetan join the existing advisors on the Kale United advisory board:

  • Kale United Industry Advisor Tobias Leenaert, co-founder of ProVeg International and author of How to Create a Vegan World: a Pragmatic Approach.
  • Kale United Health and Science Advisor David Stenholtz, oncologist, and founder and chairman of Doctors For The Future.
  • Kale United Financial Advisors Simi Valecha and Cliff Johnson, co-founders of plant-based investment company Johnson Resolutions.

Kale United founder Måns Ullerstam said: “We are creating a global ecosystem for plant-based companies to thrive, and will benefit immensely from our advisor’s invaluable insight and contact networks. Marie and Sunny represent important and fast-growing global markets, and their presence on our advisory board further increases the international reach of our unique business.”
