The aim of the crowdfunding campaign – which has already raised over EUR 35,000 –  is to use funds to invest in new and exciting plant-based brands

Stockholm, Sweden, November 1, 2018: Plant-based company group Kale United AB (Kale United) today announces that its public crowdfunding campaign is live on FundedByMe with an upper target of SEK 6 million (EUR 572,000) by December 15th.

Launched on World Vegan Day, the aim of the crowdfunding campaign – which has already raised over EUR 35,000 –  is to use funds to invest in new and exciting plant-based brands. Funds will also be used to fuel the growth of the existing portfolio and the ecosystem of services that support member companies.

Founded in October 2018 by entrepreneur Måns Ullerstam, Kale United is a new holding company growing a portfolio of plant-based brands and developing an ecosystem to help them scale.

Founder of Kale United Måns Ullerstam said:
“There are very few investment opportunities that allow individuals as well as companies and funds to invest ethically and sustainably, let alone in a company owning a portfolio that spans global plant-based industries.

As we grow our ecosystem, those that participate in the crowdfunding may also be invited to help us in the future decision making process, for instance helping decide on which brands we could consider next, or even receiving samples of new products from member companies.

I’m delighted that initial interest in the concept has been strong – we have already secured 14% of our minimum crowdfunding target before the official go-live date.

One of the aspects I’m most excited about is that this opportunity is open to individuals as well as businesses – making access to investment opportunities more open makes ethical sense to me. This is just the first step on a journey to build a new plant-based publicly traded stock.”

Kale United has already built up a portfolio of investments in high profile plant-based member companies spanning many sectors from food and drink to publishing and healthcare.

The shared resources in the Kale United ecosystem will come from co-operations between companies in the portfolio as well as through connections in the plant-based industry from Kale United and its partners.

Nadja Pinnavaia, Ph.D, CEO and founder of Euphebe Healthcare, said: “We chose to be part of Kale United to have a partner in Scandinavia. Måns and his team are pioneering a unique ecosystem and we are benefitting from their extensive network. It’s a fantastic concept to support plant-based businesses.”

David Stenholtz, an oncologist, and founder and chairman of Doctors For The Future, is the Kale United health and science advisor. He said: “By supporting plant-based brands to reach their potential and become more readily available, we are pushing for a healthier future. Kale United’s moral ethos compliments the education that Doctors For The Future is delivering, as well as providing a global network for innovative thinkers.”
